LBCC 2016!

Omg so many cons, so much work, everything's been so hectic, it's been like an entire month since LBCC and i'm just getting around to this -_- I'll add punctuality to the list of things to work on. but now i have snazzy pix to add! so whatevs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was my first round at Long Beach Comic Con, and it was such a fun experience, I wish it was longer! Got to see a ton of snazzy cosplayers, awesome new artists and writers, met Evil Ted Smith whose tutorials are the only reason I managed a breastplate, and got to do another super fun group cosplay.

Seriously, these group cosplays keep me in check, cuz when other people are involved, i feel like i can't let them down, so i actually get my ass in gear.

Ok, so it started out on sat morning bright and early trying to get our badges (which took an hour+), then checked out the convention floor a bit before heading over to the DC photo meet up, appropriately held on Batman Day.

Christina and I with Evil Ted
We had decided exactly 2 weeks before to get on this whole deal, and two weeks is decidedly little time to work on a cosplay, justsayin. So i feel like i'll work on aspects of mine a but more and lots of it didn't fit, but it came together enough for my happiness, and we all looked pretty good!

sunday
a whole lotta Blackmilk Clothing in one picture
Sugarpill eyeshadows, UD All Nighter Foundation

Anyhow, literally the only thing i cared about that day was the Firefly panel with Nathan Fillion, which 100% didn't happen as over 600 people were in line in front of us and the room was already at capacity, so while heartbroken, this gave us the chance to do the DC meet up, and there were so many of us! it was actually quite impressive.

All of these rad watermarked works of photographic art are by the fantastic @davidthestrange and you should 100% check out his website HERE.

My friend Christina (Exteenaw Cosplay) sewed this amazing Batgirl cosplay together AND made her cowl entirely from scratch, using craft foam and plastidip.

Momo created this awesome Huntress cosplay largely out of craft foam and various other items (like painted googly eyes and LEDs) and it turned out so amazing! She wasn't thrilled with the tape, but that just goes to show that really if you can image it, you can do it, even with tape.

Casey rocked this super sexy Black Canary she put together, so apparently I missed the whole Gotham universe plan... whoops. But dayam dat booty tho!

And my Wonder Woman was iffy at best, but I followed tutorials by EvilTedSmith who is actually one of the most impressive human beings, watched Gladzy Kei's quick Wonder Woman tutorial, and got some really great tips from Otaku and Fit to get the whole thing together. Definitely some super helpful people out there, so all around you can definitely build it if you put the effort in; it is just A LOT of effort. I honestly don't know how so many of these people accomplish so much.

I'm really looking forward to building more, now that foam isn't such a scary inaccessible thing to me anymore, and may start a cosplay Facebook page, as I'm working on some cool things with some rad people in the next few weeks! But just like wanting to get these posts up more consistently quicker, i doubt the facebook page will happen anytime soon.

Eyeshadow TIme! Kyshadow Edition

Ok, so I know it's been forever since i went over all the eyeshadow palettes I own, so it's time to get back into the swing of things (since I've added a ton more to the collection). Starting with Kylie Cosmetics Kyshadow Bronze palette.

Looking at the packaging (so so small), the holographic aspects are fun, but this feels pretty cheap for how much it actually cost.

Also, this thing is Super scratched up, fresh out of the box! I feel like i have to keep it in the box or it'll get trashed with normal wear. There's also not even a mirror in it, so i'm still really surprised with the price tag. One thing that's nice though, the pans themselves are a decent size, and they're mostly matte, just one or two have subtle shimmer, which is again really nice for fall.

I've discussed my feelings on the Kardashian/Jenner clan before, but regardless of personal feelings toward Kylie herself, this is still a product that Really holds up (just like so many other things in her line). It was definitely a lot smaller than i anticipated, but the color payout is fantastic, the shades are smooth and buttery, and you truly don't need much pigment to get color. Plus, the blendability is incredible. I would look at this as having the pigmentation of the KVD shade and light quads, but the blendability of Melt. I really couldn't believe how pigmented and blendable the shades are, i'm still in awe, and the bronze colors are really flattering, even on my more pink hued skin, which usually isn't the case.

End of the day close up–my eyes have a bit of the heavy lids, but after a whole day of wear the colors are still really vibrant
You can start dark and blend out to light. have a subtle or dramatic look, and dude, it's just like The Perfect palette for fall. Every time i see something new from Kylie, I want to not buy it so hard, but then it's perfect and I have to.

So here are the colors, left to right, top to bottom:
Jasper, Quartz, Topaz, Goldstone, Citrine, Tiger Eye, Hematite, Bronze, Obsidian

I find myself using all the colors quite frequently, and i've been really diving into this palette, but it doesn't have much fallout and a little color is going a long way, so even though there are a lot of things about it that make the price tag seem a little ridiculous, the eyeshadow itself really truly does hold up.

I also paired it with the Kristen Kylie Liquid Lipstick to really go with that fall deal

I'm going to challenge myself to wear a different lipstick every day until I've worn them all because I have too many to not get decent use out of them, so starting here with Kristen, I may not do a whole post on the lips, but I'll be putting them up on Insta stories and try to incorporate into these eyeshadow posts.

And the full look:

stoked it's finally fall and I can start rocking the boots again! Since i went semi-bright with the lips and eyes, I did solid black outfit to go with. Bodysuit, skirt, and tights are all Blackmilk Clothing, boots are Sam Edelman. My roots give away how long it's been since my hair got did, but look at that color! my girl is the best, hit me up for her info.

The stars are out tonight

My heart broke a little bit last Sunday night when I heard the news, it doesn't even feel real. I don't know how to function in a world without the Thin White Duke, Ziggy Stardust, the Goblin King, and all the other great personas. David Bowie taught me it's cool to be weird, makeup isn't a set design, gender is fluid, and gave me my first pang of lust. He showed me compassion for the bad guy and that it's ok constantly redefine and evolve who you are.

His voice is pure liquid gold that flows through my core and gives me goosebumps-it's the sound of heaven. It vibrates on the same wavelengths of my soul. I have a few favorite songs of course, Hunky Dory is my favorite album, I could listen to the loner mix of 'Bring Me the Disco King' on repeat, his Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby has always been my favorite Christmas song, but I would even listen to this man read the dictionary. He's so much more than my favorite Goblin King, his incredible vocal chords and insane talent as a musician and songwriter define him and an absolute Renaissance man the likes of which have never been seen.
I unfortunately was born too young to have the opportunity to see this unicorn perform in person, though it was my biggest life's dream to hear this voice straight to my ear drums, no middle man, be in the presence of such magnificence, and lament that it will never happen. I know the earth is billions of years old and we right now were lucky enough to exist in the same time as David Bowie, and I can agree, but God, does that statement hurt even more. In billions of years there has only been one David Bowie.

SORRY SIMON PEGG. STILL HEARTBROKEN.

It's nuts to think how someone you never met could have such an influence on your life. I've had more people than I can count give me condolences as if I've lost a friend, and I suppose in a way I have, though I can't imagine what people who actually knew this genius are going through. Though I haven't done it in a while, there are so many of my own creations that came about listening to his music, I used to sit and draw just lost in a world with Bowie as the soundtrack. I made my boyfriend dress up as him for Halloween one year, I introduced friends to his music, watched his movies during sleepovers, marveled at how one person could do so much and have so many different outlets for creativity. It hurts so much to think that this person no longer exists, but the legacy is left behind.

the internet gathered some awesome stuff for me so i don't have to sob looking for it all, so here a couple nice links.

Sharkies! Blackmilk! Shenanigans, oh my!

Ok so I know I suck, but now we get a nice long post to cover the past weekish where I've been super (relatively speaking) busy.

First off, went to my first SoCal Sharkie holiday party! Woohoo! I can almost never make it to meet-ups, so it was really cool to be able to go to this one.

Sharkie fun
ooh such pretty sharkies!

My bud Alex and I went together, arriving with a case of beer for the potluck, a gift for the gift exchange, and a few monies for the charity raffle...we made out like bandits. There was tons of food, I wound up with a bottle of Jack and 2 cool skull shot glasses, got an unwanted piece of nylon someone won in the raffle, and two adorable pieces of jewelry from the handmade raffle.
It's pretty cool, the raffle apparently always benefits a charity, and this years was for Tree People, where over $300 was raised by us sharkies.
And Alex and I bought some pieces from another sharkie who was selling both some of her handmade items and some of her less-loved nylon, which led me to getting this rad catsuit!

BM Juicy Fruit Minty Fresh Catsuit, BM Prima Donna Tulle Skirt, Jeffrey Campbell Skate shoes, Apatico fire harness, Lime Crime eyeliners
Alex is such a sweetie, she got this for me as my xmas gift 😻
But ultimately, the party was a lot of fun, I was glad we went, and we'll be able to go to the BMLA party on sat as well, can't wait 😊😊

And oh gosh, I officially have a problem
It's the 100+ club email!!! Holy shneikies! I have purchased over 100 pieces from BM 😱 seriously can't wait to get my special piece!!!

On a side note, I've been trying to post to Lookbook, but that shit is not working for me, so maybe I'll work on it on my home computer and try to get some more looks up. But in the meantime, here's today's jasmine-y outfit:
Triple BM-ing it up today, in the Good Guy Top, while new world Disney leggings, and twist back top, with some of my trusty lime crime lipstick and vice3 palette.

O r e g o n

Man, turns out I'm bad at this again. But I've been super busy with stuff (super descriptive, I know) but I will def work on it some more. Still want to do lipstick comparisons and such but I'll get there.

So anyhow, I went to Oregon last weekend to spend some time with family and play in Portland, and even though it was a short trip I had a pretty good time in the city. It didn't even rain very much!

Got to see some cool street art, had some tasty food and drinks, are some more food, had ice cream, ate some more.... And went to Powell's. I literally came home with a stack of books and like a zillion calories.

This was literally the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. Hands down. I would eat this as my last meal. And every meal. And I also got to visit the holy land, Solestruck. It was just a showroom, but it was so pretty. I pet all the shoes.
And cuz obviously clothes are pretty much my favorite thing (after ice cream, obvs) here's what I wore my first day there
My new fave top- Steampunk Steel wifey top from Blackmilk, miista Rachel platforms, and The Vamp Jacket (also BM). Oh and this rad white leather cuff from Jakimac
I also went blue with the hair. And pink. Cuz why not right? Tried out Arctic Fox hair color and I'm definitely a fan.

But for serious I will totally work on being more consistent.

COMIKAZE 2015!!!

Omg. This weekend was so much fun. Like I literally can't even.

So first things first, this was my first con! I've been meaning to go to like everything every year, but it always sneaks up on me and I'm not prepared and wind up not going, but not this time. I made it a point to go to Comikaze (even if only for one day) and holy damn was it a good time. Boyfriend and I were totally exhausted by the end of the day we couldn't even go out and party for Halloween, and it was so worth it.

I kind of don't even know where to start with how awesome things were, so I'll start at the beginning of the day.
We got there about 930, got our badge and made it in time for the Adventure Time panel, which is pretty much the only scheduled thing we like Needed to do, and it was totally awesome. The voice actors for Finn, Marceline, and Flame Princesd were there and they answered a ton of questions, so it was really neat to kind of see the people behind the characters.

From there we went and walked around the West Hall, checking out all the booths and people kept stopping us to take pix, which was super cool since we were pretty sad our outfits didn't turn out 100% the way we wanted (but we'll be working on them and adding for other cosplay type events). We eventually met up with friends and toured around the artist area, and got to meet one of my absolute faves, Camilla D'Errico! Such a sweet girl, she not only signed my prints, but I got a pic with her as well 😊

We also stumbled across Tayliss Forge who was on the steampunk reality show Steampunk'd, and got to chat with her for a bit, which was also super cool, and she was so informative (and also adorable)!

After cruising through the art area (and spending way too much money) we made it to the completion of one of my life goals... Meeting the incredible Dita Von Teese. I was literally shaking and fan girling so hard, I think I was speaking gibberish. She pretty much made my life complete saying everything I wanted to hear about her touring again, signed a pic, took a pic with me, and didn't have me carted away by security (cuz I probably sounded crazy. I think I blacked out, may have said she's a goddess and beautiful and perfect but I really don't know).
So anyhow, we took a break for good shortly thereafter, then went and checked out the cosplayer area were we saw some really neat outfits and stuff. We saw a couple of people we follow, but they weren't in cosplays we were familiar with, but I stopped to meet Kota Wade, the cutest damn thing since sliced bread, and someone I pulled a lot of inspiration for steampunk Ariel from.

I didn't even realize how multi-talented this girl is, she's even on Gwen's team on The Voice! Gahh she's adorbs.
Around then we came across some Amazing Jack Sparrows, so of course had to take pix

We walked around a lot more, bought more stuff, and met up with another group of friends, my bud Christina (as Phoenix) and her friend who was Steampunk Elsa! So obvs got a pic of steampunk princesses

I don't even really remember much of the rest of the time, but I accomplished everything I wanted to so it was all good :)
Here's some pix we took of people!

And some more pix of us

And we are definitely making sure we go to more cons. Too much fun! Look at all the loot I nabbed!

Possibly my favorite items were adorable kitties with mean banners in the form of stickers by Katherine Kanemoto. Too fucking cute. And this is also too funny, but after all was said and done, after wearing a corset for over 16 hours, this was my body
Those are all bruises, in case there was any question. So much pain! But so worth it. Such an amazing time, maybe next year I'll have the energy for the cosplay ball!

And finally here are some views of my outfit and such
ridiculous makeup endeavor using like 18 eyeshadows, too much glitter, fishnets, gears, falsies, and i don't even know what else went into this
Lime Crime Serpentina lipstick, NYX Sinful Wicked lippie, Black Milk Clothing,uj Mermemerald Leggings and Buckled Bolero, Corset by Wicked Chamber, Free People bralette, leather cuffs by Jakimac (steampunk'd by Derek), fork necklace from Etsy, Starfish clips by Dreams of Neverland shop
